Du Maurier is the most popular brand of cigarettes that is available in Canada. Produced by Imperial Tobacco Canada (a subsidiary of British American Tobacco, not affiliated with this Imperial Tobacco), the brand is named after Sir Gerald du Maurier, a British actor and manager.
+
Avanti is a slim cigarette which carries du Maurier’s name and logo, and produced by Imperial Brands, Ltd. (a subsidiary of Imperial Tobacco) in king size (85 mm) and 100mm formats. The brand was introduced circa 1985 in full flavour and lights, and has so far only undergone one change in design;  in 2007, when the words ”light,” ”mild,” and its varients were banned from Canadian cigarette packages, the brand was repackaged in dark red (for the Full Flavour, which was renamed Special) and gold (for the Light, renamed Elite).
The cigarettes are available at Regular, Light, Extra Light, Ultra Light and "Edition" (even lighter) nicotine/tar dosages. The packaging is red with the brand name and logo on the front and back of the package. Du Maurier also markets "Special Mild" (silver pack), "Avanti" and "Avanti Light" (dark red pack) cigarettes.

They are also available in regular (70 mm) and king size (84 mm); a 100 mm DuMaurier has also been released. All styles of cigarette contain an equal quantity of tobacco, regular size have 3-4 millimetres smaller filter to compensate for the short size. King size and 100s make use of tobacco expanded using dry ice. Regular cigarettes are popular in Canada; the nicotine hit appears to be more intense.
