The Marlboro name is owned and trademarked in Canada by a British American Tobacco affiliate(Imperial Tobacco Canada), which has independently from Philip Morris/Altria owned that name since 1932. BAT have staunchly kept the name in use to defend against Philip Morris introducing its much more popular brand to Canada.
