The first version of Consols were manufactured in Canada by the Macdonald Tobacco Company, and sold exclusively in the province of Québec as the French version of their British Consols brand. This particular packet is likely from the 1950s. The references to British colonialism were removed, as they likely would have proved offensive to Québeçois sensibilities.
The brand was later revived with a redesigned package, completely differentiating it from British Consols; not much is known about this incarnation.
